Our own workshop – the heart of our operations in Peru
In 2015, we reached a milestone with the establishment of our own studio in Huancayo. Under the expert guidance of Gladys Ureta Gavilan, this is where designs are not only perfected, but where MILLWA’s social vision is also put into practice.
- 100 knitters:
We are proud partners of more than 100 hand knitters and women’s cooperatives, whose livelihoods we secure through fair and long-term cooperation. - Training & development:
Through regular training and further education initiatives, we promote local craftsmanship and actively create new jobs. - Genuine Handcraft:
A large proportion of our accessories are still created today through intricate, traditional handcraft. As this art form requires time, quantities are naturally limited – a fact that our customers appreciate as a sign of true excellence.
Preserving Andean knitting traditions in Huancayo
The Huancayo region in the Peruvian Central Highlands is considered the heart of Andean textile art. For generations, knowledge of how to work with alpaca fibre has been passed down from one generation to the next – a craft renowned worldwide for its finesse and durability.

Materials & Responsibility
Our commitment to quality starts with the fibre. Wherever possible, we use 100% of the finest baby alpaca wool in our products. To preserve the natural character and environmental benefits of the fibre, we prefer to use the wool unbleached, in its impressive natural range of colours. Read more
