A German-Peruvian family business specialising in high-quality alpaca textiles
Our principles
At MILLWA, we operate according to a solid set of values that has formed the foundation of our work since the company was founded.
Eco-friendly
We are firmly committed to resource-efficient processes and environmental sustainability. A large part of our collection is made from 100% pure baby alpaca fibre, free from any synthetic additives. We also make a point of using the natural colour palette of the alpacas, which means we can avoid chemical dyeing or bleaching processes.
Sustainable
For us, sustainability means durability and efficiency. Alpacas are particularly gentle on the environment to keep, and the fibre itself is extremely high-yielding compared to other fine fibres. To further reduce our environmental footprint, we consolidate our deliveries into just a few shipments per year and always dispatch our products plastic-free.
Fair
Social responsibility towards our partners in the Peruvian highlands is deeply ingrained in our DNA. We support the livelihoods of more than 100 hand-knitters and women’s cooperatives through fair pay and long-term partnerships. At our own workshop in Huancayo, we also continuously invest in the training and development of our staff.
15 years of MILLWA:
Expertise from the highlands to specialist retailers
Our company’s history is characterised by continuous development: what began in 2005 as a small distribution business has grown into a specialised production and wholesale network. For 15 years, we have been combining traditional Peruvian craftsmanship with the high quality standards of the European market.
